Reference

The DMA firmware glossary.

A short reference for the hardware, networking and platform terms used throughout SwiftDMA. A shared label does not make different products or configurations interchangeable.

Memory access and firmware

DMA - direct memory access
A way for a device to transfer data to or from memory without the CPU carrying out each transfer. It is a general computing technique, not a product name or a promise of game compatibility. See Microsoft's DMA overview.
rDMA+
SwiftDMA's product name for its network-based setup using custom BIOS firmware, two PCs and companion software. It does not require a separate DMA card. The name alone does not establish interoperability with enterprise RDMA equipment; use the rDMA+ specification.
BIOS firmware
Firmware associated with the motherboard's startup and hardware initialization. On modern PCs, UEFI commonly provides that firmware environment. For rDMA+, preparation is tied to the exact motherboard and supplied BIOS file, rather than a universal file for every PC.
Card firmware
Firmware intended for a particular add-in card. It targets different hardware from motherboard BIOS firmware; the files and preparation requirements should not be treated as interchangeable. Our card versus network comparison explains the practical distinction.
LeechCore
A physical-memory acquisition library that supports multiple hardware and software sources. It is a component used by other applications, not a game-software licence. See the official LeechCore repository. Compatibility with the library does not establish support for every application using it.

The connection between two PCs

LAN - local area network
A network connecting devices within a limited place, such as a home or office. LAN describes the local network, not your internet subscription. Cisco's LAN explanation covers the distinction.
Ethernet
A family of networking standards commonly used for wired LAN connections. Ethernet and Wi-Fi are not interchangeable descriptions of a connection. rDMA+ enquiries should state how both PCs connect. See Cisco's Ethernet overview.

Security features and platform names

Secure Boot
A UEFI security feature that checks trusted boot software before allowing it to run. It is distinct from IOMMU. Read Microsoft's Secure Boot documentation.
IOMMU
The input/output memory management unit controls device access to memory through address translation and isolation. Windows uses it for DMA protection. Intel VT-d and AMD-Vi are related platform terms; see Microsoft's DMA protection documentation.
Vanguard / VGK
Vanguard is Riot's game-security software. VGK is shorthand associated with its kernel driver, including the vgk.sys filename. Neither is a SwiftDMA firmware format. Read the VALORANT guide and Riot's Vanguard explanation.
EAC - Easy Anti-Cheat
An anti-cheat service used by multiple games. An EAC label alone does not specify a game's complete requirements. See Easy Anti-Cheat and our EAC terminology guide.
FACEIT
A competitive gaming platform with its own Anti-Cheat requirements. CS2 names a game; FACEIT names an additional platform context. Read the official FACEIT support guidance for its current requirements.

Definitions explain terminology. They do not certify a configuration, establish platform approval, or replace the hardware and software compatibility check.
